In the game Broken Telephone, a whispered message is passed from one person to another, gradually morphing with each retelling. By the time it reaches the final participant, the original meaning is often barely recognisable, transformed through misinterpretation, omission, and addition. Here, distortion becomes a form of creation, a conduit for new interpretations. The exhibition Stille Post delves into the shifting nature of communication, drawing inspiration from this familiar children’s game. During the making, our interpretations have changed day by day. With each arriving artwork and the conversations we shared, we became more familiar with both the space and each other, enabling a shared creation process. Post signifies both a message in transit and a station or point of connection, while Stille, meaning ‘silent’, resonates amidst the relentless noise of contemporary communication. This dual meaning invites viewers to contemplate how silence and transmission interact, how noise and clarity coexist. Through art works across various forms, the exhibition traces how ideas evolve, how intent is reshaped, and how meaning is altered as it moves through different contexts. As messages pass from one medium to another, it asks: What gets lost? What is gained? And what new stories emerge in the space between sender and receiver?
